Lynda and Lucy here again, and welcome to this week’s podcast. Today, we’re discussing **what to pack in your hospital bag** to ensure you’re fully prepared for your baby’s arrival.
As promised, here’s the hospital bag checklist we mentioned in the episode:
For You
• Hospital paperwork, including ID and birth plan
• Loose and comfortable clothing for labor that allows easy movement
• 3 changes of clothes (including comfortable, loose-fitting sleepwear)
• 2 supportive bras (including nursing bras if you plan to breastfeed)
• Breast pads
• 2–3 packs of super-absorbent maternity pads
• 5–6 pairs of comfortable, high-waisted underwear (disposable or easy-to-wash preferred)
• Toiletries – toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, washcloth, body wash, deodorant, hair ties
• Towels
• Snacks and drinks to keep your energy up
• Books, magazines, or music for entertainment
• Any prescription medications you take regularly
For Baby
• 3–4 bodysuits, onesies, and sleepsuits (just in case)
• Scratch mittens, a soft newborn hat, socks, or booties
• Plenty of newborn diapers (AAP recommends at least **8–12 diapers per day**)
• A soft baby blanket
• Muslin cloths for feeding and burping
• A special outfit for the trip home
Other Essentials
• Infant car seat (installed in the car before leaving the hospital)
Non-Essentials (But Nice to Have)
• Phone charger
• Earplugs (for noisy hospital rooms)
• Eye mask (to block out hospital lighting at night)
• Ewan the Dream Sheep for soothing baby with soft sounds 🙂
