How to Put Your Sleeping Baby Down Without Waking Them
As parents, we know how frustrating it can be when you finally get your baby to sleep, only for them to wake up and start crying the moment you put them in the crib!
But according to baby sleep expert Lynda, the way you put your baby down might actually be causing them to wake up.
Lynda Harding, a mom of six and the inventor of the SweetDreamers product range, shared in a viral TikTok video the best method for laying a baby down in their crib to help prevent them from waking up:
"Placing your baby down so that their head and shoulders touch the mattress first can make them feel like they're falling, triggering the Moro reflex (startle reflex), even if they’re sound asleep,"
Instead, keep your baby as close to you as possible for as long as you can while leaning forward toward the crib. Then, gently lower them so that their bum, back, and finally their head touch the mattress in that order.
Why not give it a try?
- Keep your baby close to you for as long as possible before lowering them.
- Remember: Bum, Back, and then Head touch the mattress in that order.
This small adjustment can make a big difference in helping your baby stay asleep.
