Paddling pool safety

Summer is here, and it’s finally time to head outdoors! There’s no better way to keep the kids cool and entertained than by letting them splash around in a kiddie pool. To ensure a safe and fun summer, we’ve put together some essential water safety tips to keep your little ones protected.

- Always supervise children around water and never leave them unattended. Even small pools can be dangerous—babies and toddlers can drown in as little as 1 inch (2 cm) of water.

- Designate a responsible adult as the "Water Watcher." If multiple family members are present, agree on who will actively watch the kids to ensure they are supervised at all times.

- Stay close and always be within arm’s reach. If you need to step away, even for a moment, take your child with you.

- Avoid distractions. Keep phones and other distractions away to stay fully alert while your child is in the water.

- Teach older children to ask for permission before entering the pool. Establishing good habits early helps reinforce water safety.

- Always drain and turn over kiddie pools after use. This not only prevents drowning risks but also keeps rainwater and debris from collecting.
